Enter a latitude/longitude combination and click the "Map It!" button, OR double-click a spot to get the coordinants.
For entered coordinants, the location will appear in the map below at the pointer.
Note that you can move the map around, zoom in and out, and find any location in the world!
Most of this work is performed by the free Google Maps API - thanks Google! Google Maps uses the WGS 1984 datum, also the default in most GPS receivers. Note, lat longs from other datums may differ by hundreds of meters - most USGS quadrangle maps use NAD 1927 - in parts of Nevada there can be a 200 meter difference between datums - please record your datum carefully!
This uses cartographic standard positive and negative values for hemisphere coordinants, not E, W, N, or S references. For Latitude, positive is the northern hemisphere, negative is the southern hemisphere. For Longitude the eastern hemisphere is positive and the western hemisphere is negative.
Lat/Long uses decimal degrees (not degrees, minutes, etc.), see the 'Last entry' for example. A future upgrade to this page may allow for more options.
